If you play any electric lead guitar you probably wonder how to build speed and play faster. Players like Eddie Van Halen, Yngwie Malmsteen, Steve Vai and lots of other electric guitarists use speed in creative ways all the time. How can you get a similar sound?
First of all, it's not impossible. Don't think that just because great players have speed or technique that you can't get it too. Secondly, it doesn't have to take years of 8 hour practice days to get it.
Here are the basics of what's needed:
You could be playing faster in just a few weeks with a simple, 30-60 minute practice routine done 4-6x week. IF you're focused on the right things -that's what makes all the difference. Focus on the wrong things and do mindless repetition, you won't get very far.
